Where has all the time gone?!

Well, if you have seen the PICS we posted, you see that sophie is all grown up and already ONE!!! Its really hard to believe that last year at this time we had a 5 lb 14 oz fragile, sweet little bundle that barely peeped, tucked away in her crib. Now as you know, its a full time job just to keep up with how much she is learning and how adventurous she is.

She has started to explore more foods and drinks. Vitamin D milk seems to be one of her favorites as is mashed potatoes and mac and cheese! When we go out to eat, she especially enjoys being able to eat like Mom and Dad as she sits beside us and we can actually order something just for her. Knowing that her health and nutrition come first, we have been somewhat cautious on what to feed her. But thanks to the help of G-Ma and G-Pa, she also enjoys the occasional pie filling, spaghetti, and of course, cake!

She has also made huge progress in her efforts to start walking. She can take a few steps, and i think that she could easily keep going, but the excitment and fear of this newly aquired talent seems to be too much so she stops and plops to the floor to continue crawling. She has also expanded her internal dictionary to; “mommy” “daddy” “ducky”"more”"ouchy” “hi (with Dad’s cell phone pressed against her ear)” and a few others. We owe a lot of this and her knowledge of popular pop hits such as “twinkle twinkle little star” (with hand motions) to her learning center Little Stars Development Center. They are a great group of people that focus all of their efforts in helping these little ones achieve some huge milestones in their time.

As fast as all this is going I cant imagine a more perfect child for us. We spend so much time worrying about life, jobs, school, and petty little problems. Then you see a small child that only problem’s are when to eat and when to sleep. So innocent and yet so admirable. This has truly been the best year of our life.

Happy B-Day Ash!

Wednesday was Ashley’s 23rd B-Day! I’ve gotta say, time has just been flying by for us, I cant believe how OLD we are getting!

We spent the day at work (lots o’fun) and after we went out to Ash’s favorite restaurant, Cheddars. There we had dinner with our friends and of course Soph, who was introduced to chocolate cake a.k.a crack for kids, and she LOVED it. It seems that Soph ate more than Mom and myself combined, but we all had a great time. I’m sure Ash will be posting photos of her new I Love Lucy bathroom, as well as other gifts after the weekend. We are taking her out again tonight since we were working for the majority of her actual birthday.

her first chocoloate cake

Mom, Soph and I love you with all of our hearts and are so blessed to have you and everything you do for us. Happy Birthday, and we wish you many many more to come.

Welcome Home!

Well, we have finally moved in and gotten somewhat comfortable in our new home. We got our house last month and have been trying to get unpacked and comfortable. Its very nice to say that Sophia now has a huge yard to play in!

You can find some more pictures here.

Sophia starts her first day of daycare Tuesday which makes this time for us really nerve wrecking. We have been very blessed to have had family that could watch her keeping us from having to leave her with strangers until now. I know that this will be beneficial for her in the long run, but it is very hard to do right now. The learning center has some great people there and activities that are going to help Sophie as her mind continues to develop. They also teach in dual languages which is something that I really like about the place. She has made some huge strides and passed some major milestones within the past month. I know that real soon i will be talking about her first steps- I can wait!!

Well, other than that, you can see that we have made some significant changes to our blog appearance. And pictures are being updated for you to see. Please leave us some feedback on your opinion and some suggestions or ideas.

Peyton for President

Well if you know me at all, you will also know that i am a HUGE Indianapolis Colts fan. So from time to time you may have the pleasure of reading a few football blogs.

Anywho, being the American i am, i have been following the Olympics the past week or so and i must say that i am heavily impressed with Michael Phelps. I think that if any one person truly found his calling in life, this is the man. He is an American Icon and a poster boy for the Olympics.

Now, as much as i like him, i think that a true American hero is none other than our very own Peyton Manning! So i ask you, why isn’t football an Olympic sport? Well, he has an answer to that as well.

You have my vote Peyton.

Cant wait for football season again, September 7th is a light year away!

Sophie Tales

So this is a sorry blog… Sorry that we have not written a blog in a long time. I have some stories about Sophie and it doesn’t really mean a lot to those of you who have not had the privilege of meeting the little bug.

Story #1: Our daughter will be an explorer someday:

So sophie just learned this new thing called “Stick everything in your mouth cause it looks like fun” and well one day we are all at home and watching TV. Martin decided to get comfortable and left his socks and shoes on the living room floor as well as I did. Sophie, being the nosy rosy she is, crawled over to dad’s shoes and kinda pondered on it for a while… she then decided to grab the sock to feel the texture of it and observe the color. Shortly after realizing this was another object that could easily go in her mouth she decides ”what the heck… might as well” and sticks the sock in her mouth… I only caught the aftermath but Dad said she jerked her body back like that was the worst kind of food to ever be invented and then….she threw up…. I laughed so hard I literally cried. Even after she threw up Sophie has this look on her face… almost like she was still disgusted, it was priceless!!

Story #2: Our daughter is suicidal

Every morning, for the past 3 months, we wake up get halfway ready, wake up sophie and lay her on our bed. We constantly talk to her as we finish getting ready and she just lays there and talks back… Just recently *I think its all those fatsoph jokes that finally got to her* she learned that the bed does have an end. She starts off by just starring at the bottom *like she is contemplating her decision* then out of nowhere she, not only falls or jumps but, DIVES towards the ground… Luckily dad and I have been there everytime to catch her and she is not happy with that result either… We put her back on the bed thinking she has learned her lesson…. well big red flag should have said no she hasn’t because she does it again and again and again… usually until we walk out of the door with her in our arms

Story #3: Our daughter will be in the Olympics soon:

Well.. let me just put it this way…. she learned how to speed crawl and if you could win a medal for that she would definitely be winning them all… Not only that but Martin and I have learned that this baby is WAY stronger and more flexible that any other baby her age… She likes to still eat her toes for a snack when she gets a little bored and she also likes to pick her self up on literally EVERYTHING… She especially likes to pull herself up on your leg and try to rip your skin off while she is doing that, trust me its not that much fun for me as it is for her. She also learned how to follow everyone around *I’m not sure how that will relate to the Olympics but I m sure somewhere down the line it will.* She continues to get stonger, faster, and more flexible everyday… that has to be good for something!!!
So once again… I’m sorry about not keeping everyone updated about soph!!

Going gr-EE-n

So we finally made it out to see Pixar’s new hit, WALL-E. I was very impressed with it. The Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class creature that is WALL-E is delightful and energetic, providing us with laughter at his expense through his ignorance of common objects as he explores them. He does this while Pixar fills our minds and opens our eyes to what we are doing to our only Earth that we live in.

Andrew Stanton fills our eyes with morbidly obese humans living on hovering chairs eating full meals in a cup, oblivious to their surroundings because of the multi-media machines in their face. As abstract as it may seem, it does give a feeling of modern day American life (though to not that extent) and exaggerates the lifestyle that we live. The adventure that WALL-E takes on to save and be with his love EVE (Extra-Terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) mixed with standard Pixar fun and laughs sends a great message out to the audience and makes this film great. Although i don’t think Christopher Nolan would crown it the movie of the summer, it should be in contention.

After watching this I comprised a list of how to “go green” that Me and Ashley will be trying to ease into our lifestyle within the following months. Here ya go

1. Go out and buy fluorescent light bulbs to replace the incandescent lights in our home. A single 60-100 watt bulb can save $30-$60 in energy over the life of the bulb.
2. Turn down the heat (or don’t set the AC so high). Every degree warmer you set and every degree cooler you set, will save in both energy consumption and expense-about 2% saving per degree
3. Take shorter showers to reduce water use. This will lower your heating and water bills too.
4. Invest in high-quality, long-lasting products. You might pay more now, but you will be happy when you don’t have to replace items as frequently (and this means less waste!).
5. Shorten your Halo nights by one hour. This will save enough energy and money to put Sophie through college.
6. Recycle your cell phone
7. You can make very effective, non-toxic cleaning products whenever you need them. All you need are a few simple ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and soap. This cuts back on money, packaging, and indoor air quality. Easy, Peesy!

Leave us some comments and feedback, add to list, or tell me what you think. Together we can

“Build a brighter future” (from WALL-E)

Our First

Hello all, so this is our first official blog and I wanted all of you to know a little about us before you read and not understand. Martin and I got married 10 months ago and we have a beautiful baby girl, Sophie, that is 7 months old. We both work at Medical Center Hospital and we just got new couches!!! YAY!! Sorry I just had to through that in. I work in Admitting as a Registrar and Martin works in Information Technology.

This website was inspired by our Daughter, Sophia Elizabeth. We felt that as much fun as we have together, we had to share these times with all our friends and family. So the reason behind our domain name is well…. Martin calls our daughter his little fatso..”ph”. We thought that that would be cute because every time we look at this site or tell someone about this site it has a story behind it and we cant help but to think of our fatso-ph. Martin is very into computers, golf and football…. I, on the other hand, am not…. Im into painting arts and crafts, blogging *when i want to* and volleyball. I absolutely love to dress Sophie up for every little occasion and now that her hair is long enough we get to throw it up in a little ponytail that makes her look like pebbles from the flinstones!!! Like I said before she is 7 months and she has 2 teeth. She loves to eat the spoon and not so much the food…. Soph is now crawling… well its more like an army crawl. She know how to get up on all 4 to start the crawling but she then realizes that it is sooo much easier to just army crawl. Martin and I love to watch her crawl around the living room and try to find all of her toys. So please look around, leave some comments or suggestions, and we do appreciate all the feedback we get.
